Snowflake Data Warehouse Cloud Become The Change You Seek

By the time this posts hits, I’ll be in the air heading to one of my favorite cities, San Francisco. —

My Sifu, Coach Sule, has that slogan as part of his email signature, and those are words are quite fitting. If you have been following me on Twitter, then you know that a lot is going on in the life and times of @dbaOnTap. The blog title definitely says it all and change is a comin’!!

Have you ever thought to yourself, life is great! I wouldn’t change a thing! How quickly those things can change. I had a great job designing private cloud solutions with a phenomenal team, when a good friend and mentor presented me a new opportunity. I was comfortable and things were going great. However, maybe something different was a good thing. Maybe a different look at a familiar technology concept was what I needed? Maybe it was time to broaden my exposure to technology other than the Oracle stack that I had been working with for the past fourteen years. Wow, it really has been that long for me! While I loved my job and the team at Enkitec is awesome, the answer to all that was a resounding YES!

I reached out to several friends whose opinions I really respect (they will know when they read this). One gave rave reviews of the new company while acknowledging that shifting from Oracle can be “scary”, this was a great opportunity. Another said that working for a small development company was the one of the best things he’d ever done. With such positive comments, I knew that the decision to leave the comfortable and familiar was the right thing to do.

Let It Snow

When a great opportunity hits you, take it! So last month, I resigned from Accenture and on April 16, 2018, I’ll start writing my next chapter at Snowflake, the only data warehouse built for the cloud. Check us out Snowflake.net. I am looking forward to working with a new team, working on a new and different technology, and becoming the change I seek.

Let it SNOW!
